So the story goes. The only thing worse than my predictions in the previous post was the play of Manchester United. Anderson? Really Sir Alex? Of all the Fletchers' and the Scholes' you had to pick Anderson to start in the midfield. As for the battles, only today did Pep prove his true worth, Messi will now easily claim the European and World Footballer of the year awards and Spanish clubs now hold more Euro club titles than any other nation. Theres really not much else to say. Two-thirds of the Treble came easily for the Catalans but this CL title shows the world that they are the best team in the history of this sport. May I remind you that a few weeks ago after 93 minutes at Stamford Bridge Barcelona was down 1-0 and for that reason, among others, they proved to the world to be the top club team in footballing history. I will say that terrible goalkeeping and poor defending definitely played a role no smaller than that of Messi's tremendous header, but in the end of the day this win was nothing less than deserved.
Till next year (in the CL, anyway)
